The university was opened in 1954 on the basis of the Leningrad Dental Institute, which moved to Tver land. Currently, Tver State Medical University implements 5 specialist programs, 37 residency programs, 26 postgraduate programs, 79 professional retraining and advanced training programs. More than 5,000 people study at the university, of which about 1,500 people are foreign citizens from 46 countries.
